Badajoz is a province of the autonomous region of Extremadura. It’s the most densely populated and important city from the economics’ point of view.

Placed in southern Extremadura, it is a land of contrasts in which holm oak meadows, mountain ranges and the mediterranean forest are combined.

In Badajoz you can enjoy from castles, citadels and Jewish quarters. Certain town’s historic ensembles stand out such as the ones of Alburquerque, Jerez de los Caballeros, Olivenza, Zafra and mostly its capital city, Mérida, which Archeological Ensemble has been declared as World Heritage by the UNESCO. In such ensemble stand out the Roman Temple of Diana, a beautiful huge building which construction is dated to the end of the I Century B.C.

The gastronomy of the region is mostly traditional and courses like hare and partridge bird are very remarkable, in its different forms, and produce such as meat and the iberian pig.
