It offers interesting options throughout the year to enjoy an adapted trip, as it opens its doors to the tourism for all. It has accessible beaches, historic buildings with access for the disabled, adapted museums, etc.

The website of Barcelona Turisme displays a wide section for the accessibility of monuments, attractions, and public places. Throughout the web you’ll find information regarding the access to each monument and tourism venue.

The following monuments and venues are recommended for travelers with disabilities:

Sagrada Familia

The Basílica of la Sagrada Familia is the most well known work of Gaudí, and it has become an undeniable symbol of Barcelona. One of a kind, it’s been under construction since 1882, and it’s set to be finished by 2026.

For this essential visit, the official website recommends to be accompanied by another person, since it has a few obstacles ––ticket windows and ramps–, though in general the venue is accessible for the disabled.

The Rambla

It’s a mandatory visit for everyone who goes to Barcelona. There are remarkable buildings on each side of the street, such as the Gran Teatro del Liceo, the Palau de la Virreina or the Boquería Market

There are many options in hotels and accommodations in the area for people with disabilities, with accessible restrooms. The Rambla has a wide central pedestrian boulevard, completely accessible. Here you can find more information about access to The Rambla for people in wheelchairs.

Paseo de Gracia

Close to The Rambla is the famous Paseo de Gracia. Besides the most prestigious stores in Barcelona, there are many remarkable buildings as the Pedrera and the Casa Batlló. There are also many adapted hotels and accommodations. The sidewalks are very wide and, although they are partially taken with balconies and walkers, circulation in a wheelchair is easy and comfortable.

Casa Milà

Popularly known as "La Pedrera",  it is one of the most unique and celebrated buildings of  Gaudí. The property, with a surprising and magical roof, was declared World Heritage of UNESCO in 1984. The building can be accessed by people using wheelchairs and has all the accessibility resources contained in the program for cultural activities, as well as the ones contained in the conference, day trips or concert programs. Thanks to this, La Pedrera - Casa Milá has been recognized in the Responsible Tourism Awards in the Best Provider of Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Award. You can read more info in La Pedrera, an accessible space.

Casa Batlló

Casa Batlló, without a doubt, is one of the most impressive works of Gaudí. It's an amazing building inspired by the sea world. In it, Gaudí worked with the best artisans from all the known fields. It's a must for all travelers, including all the people who require special needs, meaning, that almost all the house is adapted for people with a physical impairment.

Barceloneta Beach

It is on the Barceloneta Beach where the locals go to taste fish dishes, seafood and tapas, it is an accessible beach. There is a bathroom support service for people with reduced mobility: shed-clothes, amphibious chairs, lift crane, life jackets, parasols and volunteer service.

Palau de la Música

Considered the "most modernist building in the world", the Palau de la Música was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. It is an artistic monument of exceptional beauty and, at the same time, a musical stage of great prestige. The building has no architectural barriers.
